These works are part of a larger series of about 50 that I call "dream collages." The way I made them was to start out with no preconception of what I was going to end up with, then flip through magazines and photo albums and cut out and put down whatever struck me as "right". It was in many ways an unconscious process born of studying meditation for many years.
When each piece was finished, I would myself be amazed at how coherent they were, given the seeming randomness of the process. Which is why I refer to them as "dream" collages. Each one has its own psychological meaning, much of it derived from dream symbolism. For example, in dreams, a baby often represents an undeveloped emotional part of ourselves. © Bryan Kortis
